Why do our adoption fees cost what they do?

We completely understand that a $150-$450 adoption fee is not in everyone’s budget, and that’s okay! We always encourage you to check out your local municipal shelter.

Our rescue often saves dogs who require more care than the shelter can provide, but unlike the shelter, we don’t receive government funding. A lot of our dogs require spay/neuter, many vet visits, medication, grooming, or emergency surgery! Some of our dogs may cost 10x their adoption fee.

That also means that some dogs will cost us less than their adoption fee. We encourage you to think of the adoption fee as a donation for all of the dogs in the rescue. Not just for your dog, but supporting our mission and helping us continue to save the next dog in need.

Our adoption fees always cover spay/neuter, microchip, Distemper/Parvo vaccines and boosters, Bordetella vaccine, Rabies vaccine, and a heartworm test. Heartworm treatment is also included for heartworm positive dogs (an additional $500+ expense).

If our adoption fee doesn’t fit into your budget for a pet, that’s okay! Our shelter partners have low or even waived adoption fees and many available pets for adoption who need a home too!
